Functional Medicine NP | Hormone Specialist
Garner, IA and virtually
Hormone Replacement Therapy | Lab Testing
Book your hormone consult below

“Your labs look normal.”

That’s often what patients are told before they come to my clinic.

They’ve already had testing done, but they still feel off—low energy, poor sleep, weight changes, brain fog.

And it doesn’t make sense.

Here’s what I see every day in practice.

Lab ranges are designed to identify disease, not to evaluate how well your body is actually functioning.

So it’s possible to be told everything is “normal” and still not feel like yourself.

Most of the time, there is a reason—it just hasn’t been fully evaluated yet.

That’s where we start.

Our Hormone Clarity Session is designed to help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and what to do next. It includes a symptom review, InBody scan, and clear next steps based on your individual picture.

New patient visit is $47. Click the link below to get started.

Most people don’t realize this…
Many clinics offering hormone therapy today learned how to place pellets in a weekend course.
That’s it.
A weekend.
And then they’re treating complex hormone cases.
—
Hormones are not simple.
They impact your brain, metabolism, heart, sleep, mood, and long-term health.
This is NOT something I take lightly.
Before I ever offered BHRT to my patients, I invested in extensive, ongoing training—far beyond a single certification.
And I’m still continuing my education.
Because your health deserves more than a “quick certification.”
—
While some providers stop after a weekend course… I chose to go much deeper.

Here’s a snapshot of my training:
🔹 Advanced BHRT & Hormone Training
• Elite NP Women’s Health & HRT Clinic Course
• Elite NP Men’s Health & Testosterone Course
• Elite NP Advanced Women’s Health & HRT Clinic Course
• Elite NP Men’s Health Essentials
• Elite NP Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Course
• Elite NP Thyroid Optimization Course
• Hormonal Health Institute Complete BHRT & Thyroid Masterclass
• HRT University Master Course
– Male HRT
– Female HRT
– Advanced Female HRT
– Thyroid Hormone Replacement
– Adjunct Hormones
• Discover the Power of BHRT
• Expand Treatment Options
• Mastering the Foundations of BHRT
• Navigating Hormone Complexities
• 9th & 10th Annual Academic Summits
• Biote Certification
• A4M BHRT Symposium
• Kharrazian Institute Hormone Imbalances

🔹 Functional Medicine Training
• IFM Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice
• Elite NP Foundational Functional Medicine Course
• Elite NP Chronic Disease & Cardiometabolic Course
• Elite NP Functional Nutrition & Supplement Course
• Kharrazian Institute Essentials of Functional Medicine
• Kharrazian Institute Gastrointestinal Disorders
• Kharrazian Institute Diabetes & Dysglycemia
• Kharrazian Institute Headaches
• (Currently completing Functional Medicine Certification)
—
Because I don’t just treat symptoms.
I look at the full picture.
I find the root cause.
And I build a plan specific to YOU.
—
If you’re looking for real answers and a deeper, more personalized approach to hormone health…
That’s what I do.

There`s a myth that hysterectomy either stops your hormones completely or leaves them untouched.

The truth is more nuanced.
If your ovaries were removed (oophorectomy), you went into surgical menopause. Your estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone production stopped abruptly. No transition period. No gradual adjustment.

The symptoms can be severe: hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, mood changes, brain fog, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, bone density concerns.

If you kept your ovaries, they`re still producing hormones. But the uterus isn`t just a passive organ. It communicates with the ovaries through blood flow and signaling pathways. When it`s removed, that communication changes.

Some women notice subtle shifts in energy, mood, or cycle-related patterns they didn`t expect. Others enter menopause earlier than they would have naturally, sometimes within a few years of surgery.

And here`s what often gets missed: whether you kept your ovaries or not, your hormone needs after hysterectomy are different from someone who went through natural menopause.

If your ovaries were removed, you may need estrogen, progesterone (if you kept your cervix), and testosterone replacement to restore what was lost.

If you kept your ovaries, you may still benefit from support as your system recalibrates or as ovarian function declines earlier than expected.

The key is assessment. Not assumptions.

We evaluate where your hormones actually are, how your body is responding post-surgery, and what support makes sense for your specific situation.

☑️ If your body hasn’t felt the same since surgery, we’re here to map what’s next with clarity, compassion, and clinical strategy.

📲 Save this if you`re post-hysterectomy and still figuring out what your body needs

You’ve been told you’re too young for hormone issues.
But your energy’s inconsistent.
Your cycles are changing.
Your digestion feels unpredictable.
And nothing really explains why.

In cases like these, we don’t just look at hormones.
We look at how your gut, immune system, and hormones are communicating, because that’s where early dysfunction often hides.

→ Your gut influences inflammation, nutrient absorption, and how hormones are metabolized
→ Your thyroid controls energy, mood, and the speed of your metabolism.
→ And your sex hormones help stabilize cycles, cognition, and stress response

When even one of these systems is strained, the others adapt.

That adaptation might look like:
✔ fatigue that can`t be fixed with just more caffeine
✔ gut issues that flare with stress or cycle changes
✔ mood swings or temperature changes no one connects
✔ a sense that your body is harder to regulate than it used to be

For many patients, this trio becomes especially important when autoimmune patterns are present (whether diagnosed or still evolving.)
Because those patterns often surface years before conventional care starts paying attention.

In our practice, we don’t isolate these systems.
We map how gut health, immune activity, and hormone signaling are interacting so we can intervene before the spiral gets louder.

☑️ If you’ve been told you’re “too young” for hormone changes, but something still feels off, it`s worth looking deeper. Link in bio to book your consultation.

📲 We translate complex systems into clear strategies. Follow for more insights like this.

We’ve been taught to think of stress as emotional.
A mindset.
A perspective problem.

But in clinical practice, we see it differently.
Stress reshapes hormone pathways often before any lab looks out of range.

In women, it lowers progesterone and dysregulates estrogen.
In men, it tanks testosterone and destabilizes mood.
In both, it downshifts thyroid function and alters insulin sensitivity.

You may notice it as:
— a short fuse, or emotional flatness
— weight that won’t budge no matter what you eat
— poor recovery after workouts
— a cycle that feels heavier, longer, or more symptomatic
— the energy crash you can’t shake, even with a full night’s sleep
None of this means you’re not managing stress well.
It may mean your system is saturated.

In our practice, we not only treat stress as a mindset issue.
We also evaluate it as a hormonal load and build a plan that actually relieves the pressure.

☑️ Curious how your stress chemistry is shaping your hormones, energy, and recovery?

📲 Ask us about our Foundational Assessment.
